About Me
My name is Bethany Kelley and I am married to my husband Mark Kelley, a pastor at Compass Bible Church in Aliso Viejo. We have 4 children. I have been teaching music for over 10 years and still enjoy it. I started playing piano when I was very young, and began individual voice lessons at age 13. In college, I received music scholarships and traveled abroad with choirs during school. I completed my bachelors at The Master's College in 2006, and received my teaching credential shortly after.
Currently, I am regularly a part of the worship team at my church, Compass Bible Church and enjoy using my musical talents for God's glory. I have a strong desire to see young children develop a love for music and a knowledge of how it works, and grow in their abilities to play or sing. Additionally, it is important for students to learn theory, sight reading skills and technique, as well as harmony, chords and to have fun while doing it.
ABOUT KELLEY MUSIC STUDIO
Individual Piano Lessons:
In Home Lessons: these occur for 30 or 45 minutes, once a week. There are 2 Recitals each year. 30 minute lessons are $180 a month, books are an additional cost.
Lessons In Your Home: these occur at your own home. I have several teachers who will come to you for the same price of 180$ a month.
Individual Voice Lessons:
These occur for 30 minutes once a week. There are 2 Recitals each year. 30 minute lessons are $180 a month, books and music tracks are an additional cost.
Group Voice Lessons (any age):
These occur for 45 minutes or 1 hour once a week. A minimum of 2 girls are needed with a maximum of 4 girls. There are 2 Recitals each year. Group Voice lessons cost $100 a month.
High School Group Ensemble:
These occur for 1 hour, once a week on Wednesday from 5:00-6:00pm. This is offered for 8th-12th graders, and is 200 for an 8 week course with 1 performance at my recital. All music, and digital recordings are provided.
Recitals:
Recitals will cost 10$ each. Recitals are given in December and May and this cost will be added to your monthly tuition accordingly.
Absences and Missed Lessons
If a lesson must be missed, please give me at least 24 hours’ notice (if your child becomes ill overnight, please call me in the morning.) If I am notified in advance, you may schedule a make-up lesson. It will be your responsibility to schedule the make-up. Make-ups must be done within the same month that you cancel your lessons. They can be scheduled using the Calendly link for that month. There will be no fee adjustment for missed lessons unless I have cancelled your lesson because I am ill or have a conflict. If I cancel your lesson, I will either make up or credit the lesson.
Recitals
Recitals will be twice a year, in both December and May. Recitals cost $10 each per student. Piano pieces are memorized in the Spring recital, but music may be used at the December recital. Vocal pieces should be memorized for these performances, yet lyrics can be used. Voice Recitals will be held in person at a community center in the area and will be grouped with my piano students.
Practice
Please encourage your student to practice daily (or at least 5 days a week) this will ensure that there is sufficient growth and progress. I will discuss individual expectations during lessons and keep track of practice through our homework log. Students who don't spend enough practice time will not progress as expected.
